Ambassador's Message On August 30 Victory Day

Vilnius Büyükelçiliği 30.08.2021

Today, we are proud and excited to celebrate as a nation the 99th anniversary of our great victory in Anatolia.

With the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief which started on August 26 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and ended with a decisive victory in Dumlupınar on August 30, 1922, our homeland was saved from enemy occupation, and the Turkish Nation proved that they would not give up on living in freedom and independence. With this most important victory in our War of Independence our nation has given an unforgettable lesson to those who wanted to erase it from the stage of history, setting an example for all oppressed peoples.

Taking advantage of this blessed occasion, I congratulate all our citizens, including those living in Lithuania, and members of the Turkish Armed Forces on the occassion of the August 30 Victory Day; I commemorate all our martyrs with mercy, especially the Great Leader of our national struggle and the founder of our Republic Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his brothers in arms, and salute our veterans with gratitude.
